In this work the possible antimicrobial activity of crude methanol extract (CE), hexane, ethyl acetate and butanol fractions, as well as four pure compounds obtained from Rubus imperialis roots was evaluated. The minimal inhibitory concentrations (MIC) were determined using the agar dilution method. The experiments showed that the extract and some fractions exhibited antimicrobial action, particularly against the Gram-positive bacteria tested, with MIC values between 0.5 and 2.0 mg/mL.

Isolation of a New Quercetin 3 - O - trisaccharide from the Leaves of Rubus crataegifolius

− A new quercetin 3-O-trisaccharide was isolated from the leaves of Rubus crataegifolius (Rosaceae). The structure of this compound was determined as quercetin 3-O-α-L-arabinofuranosyl-(1→ 2)-β-D-xylopyranosyl(1→ 2)-β-D-galactopyranoside on the basis of 2D-NMR spectroscopic data. This flavonol glycoside was isolated for the first time from a natural source.
